Sage KB Home / Library / Creating Persistent Links to Library Database Articles
To create persistent links to articles from library subscription databases that will work both on and off campus you will first need to add the following proxy string to the beginning of the article URL:
On a campus workstation (either in person or through VPN), you can simply copy the URL of the article from the address windows.
Off campus, the URL provided in the addresss window is INCORRECT. You need to locate the persistent link provided by the database vendor in the article's record.
Unfortunately, even persistent links provided by vendors can be erroneous. Beware of URLS that contain port numbers. URLs that contains library.sage.edu:2050 or contain library.sage.edu followed by a number higher than 2051 will not work. In cases where these are the only URLS available, you should create the links when you are on campus or on a campus computer connected by VPN.
The location of persistent links in the article record varies by database vendor. For database specific tips in creating links, see the library tech page.
Remember to test the link before posting it to Moodle. If you need assistance call 292-1784 or email macwak@sage.edu
