For Sage Alumni: Migrating Sage Gmail to Personal Gmail

Go to: https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps

If you are not already, log into your SAGE GMAIL account when prompted.

You must toggle “Allow Less Secure Apps” to the “On” position.

Log out of your Sage account and login to your NEW or PERSONAL Gmail Account

In your NEW or PERSONAL Gmail Account (Not your @sage.edu email account), Go to Settings (Click the icon that looks like a gear in the upper right corner, then Accounts and Import, click “Import Mail and Contacts.”

Enter the account you want to migrate from (I.E. [email protected])

Click Continue

Enter your Sage Password,

Pop Username: Enter you Sage Username with @sage.edu at the end!

Pop Server: pop.gmail.com

Port: 995

Use SSL: Must be Checked

Click “Continue”

Check “Import Mail”

Uncheck “Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server”

    **If this is checked, the migration will fail**

Select the other options you want, and then click “Start import”


Depending on the number of messages and the sizes of any attachments, it may take a while to move all your messages over. You should be able to check on the progress of your migration by going to the Gear then Settings, then Accounts and Import, in the section “Check Mail from Other Accounts”
